SAMANTaA Dance Company is a distinguished Kathak institution based in New Delhi, established in 2011 by the talented and dynamic duo Shubhi Johari and Amit Khinchi. Both founders are highly trained classical dancers — disciples of Pt Jai Kishan Maharaj ji and Pt Rajendra Gangani ji respectively — and alumni of Kathak Kendra, one of India's premier institutions for classical dance. With a strong foundation in the Lucknow and Jaipur gharanas, they bring a rich blend of traditional depth and contemporary sensibility to their work.
The company was founded with a clear vision to promote, preserve, and popularize Indian classical dance and music among the younger generation. Through structured training, workshops, stage productions and lecture demonstrations, the institution cultivates not just technical skill but also a deeper cultural understanding and appreciation of the arts.
Over the years, SAMANTaA has built a strong repertory of professionally trained dancers and musicians who actively perform across India and internationally. Their performances are known for intricate footwork, expressive abhinaya, and innovative choreography that respects tradition while engaging modern audiences.
A powerful and graceful presence on stage, Shubhi Johari represents the evolving spirit of Kathak — deeply rooted in tradition yet dynamically expressive in contemporary contexts. Initiated into the sacred Guru–Shishya Parampara under Pt Jai Kishan Maharaj of the Kalka-Bindadin Gharana, her recent Ganda Bandhan marks her as a true torchbearer of this rich lineage.
